The original Wrexham Linux User Group was started in the late 1990s. In August 2007 as awareness of Linux grew, we started holding regular public meetings and put a website together. We're an easy going bunch of individuals, with varying levels of experience in several different Linux operating systems.
With the advent of video calls, the need to hold regular monthly meetings in person declined. However, we now find ourselves in 2026, with growing discontent around the intrusive nature of recent releases of Windows. As such, we feel the time is right to help those who see Linux as a viable alternative to Microsoft products.
Whilst we have no plans to restart in-person meetings, we are open to holding a video call every now and again.
If you are curious about Linux, and are wondering what all the fuss is about, you've come to the right place. Alternately, you could be an established user, keen to share some of your knowledge - in which case - get in touch and help us spread the word!
